Lost in the Jungle!

On a lovely sunny day in West Norfolk, Woodpeckers from Sporle and Whitebeam from Castle Acre journeyed to the overcast North Norfolk to become intrepid explorers of the jungle and plains, ponds and rivers of Amazona Zoo.  We have been studying rainforests, in particular The Amazon, and researching some of the animals found there.

After leaving our bags in the yurt, we set off on a trail around the zoo seeking out flamingos, macaws, a jaguar, different types of monkeys, tapirs, ocelots and all sorts of other animals and birds. The American River Otter was very playful and loved showing off his prowess in the water. Who knew that the guinea pigs we keep as pets have a cousin which is wild animal living in South America?

After sharing our picnic with moorhens, we went off to explore the tropical house where we found snakes and caimans, toucans and pirhanas. The plants were massive and very colourful and gave us a feeling what a real rainforest may be like (although it wasn't raining!).

After cooling down with an ice cream we travelled back across the world to Sporle and Castle Acre.
