Friday 15th May 2020

Hooray!!! It's Friday!!! Well done on getting through another week of fabulous learning!

Spellings:

Use the powerpoint to practise when to use the ‘ous’ and ‘ious’ suffixes. Refer to slide 6 of the powerpoint to find words with these suffixes.

Read for pleasure: Spend 10-15 minutes (or more if you want) reading something for pleasure. It could be a story, poem, play, information text, comic, graphic novel or online text/kindle/e-reader. You could also read to a younger or older sibling.

English: FWF

Free Write Friday has returned!

The choice is yours….you have the freedom to write whatever you want…story, poem, information text, letter, diary. Start something new or continue a previous piece of writing. Don’t forget to think carefully about your audience…who are you writing for? How will that affect your choice of vocabulary/tone. I’d love to read some of your writing.

Stuck for ideas??? Want to write in an informal style? How about writing a letter to a friend/family member. What have you been enjoying? What has been driving you mad?(I’m sure we can all think of some things!) What are you looking forward to? If you decide to write to someone in our class, and want them to read your letter, let me know, and I can arrange for them to see it.

Alternatively, you could write a recount/diary entry of your VE day celebrations…or anything else you think of. Get creative….

Maths:

Daily 10

Pupils have also been using daily 10 in class to improve this recall of multiplication and division facts. They all know how this works. Click on the link below to access the website.

Friday Fun Family Challenge:

Work together as  a family to become awesome problem solvers! Some challenges are easier than others. They do get progressively harder. See how many of the problems you can solve… parents can also help! (The problems are the same for year 5 and 6, so clicking on either link will take you to the relevant challenge: Summer term, week 4: Friday Maths challenge.

It’s the return of foodie  Friday….Get in the kitchen and get creative. Knock up a sweet treat, a savoury snack or a meal for the family. You decide….

Try to include some of your maths measuring skills in your food preparation…e.g. weighing/ measuring capacity of the ingredients.
