Narborough Primary Academy

Friday 1st May 2020

Well done on getting through another week of awesome learning! Here are your learning tasks for Friday.

Spellings:

Continue to practice adding prefixes to root words. Use slide7 for ideas of words containing prefixes. Remember, don’t do them all at once! No more than ten at one time (Spellings _Rule 18 prefixes).

Read for pleasure: Spend 10-15 minutes (or more if you want) reading something for pleasure. It could be a story, poem, play, information text, comic, graphic novel or online text/kindle/e-reader. You could also read to a younger or older sibling.

English: Free Write Friday

You know how this works. You can choose to write about whatever you want. Could be fiction or non-fiction…you decide the style, the purpose and the audience. You may want to start something new or continue a piece of writing you have already started. Remember to showcase your writing skills (grammar, punctuation, language choices). Don’t forget to include details to interest and engage your audience. I would love to see some of your writing, so if you can, please upload them to dojo.

Stuck for an idea??? Take inspiration from Michael Rosen…Can you come up with a short story about a chocolate product and you getting into trouble (cake, bar-too many to list! Easter egg, cheesecake, biscuits, rich chocolate pudding and chocolate sauce, a sophisticated chocolate tart)…..you get the idea. Remember to make your story interesting by including detail (think of your descriptive techniques and include how you felt). Alternatively, you could describe the most delicious chocolate product you have ever tasted...think of using adjectives, similes and metaphors. Or write a recipe for the ultimate chocolate dessert. What about channelling your inner poet, and write a chocolate inspired poem? ...You decide! :)

Maths:

Scroll down the page to access Summer term week 2 (W/c 27th April) lessons. (You may need to click on the + symbol for them to appear on the webpage).
Guidance: watch the video tutorial, then complete the worksheet. If you can't (or don't want to) print the worksheet, write your answers in your exercise book. Make sure you number your questions to make it easy for your parents to check your answers.

If you find the column method tricky, think what other strategy you could use (e.g. partitioning). Don’t forget to use your counting skills to help you!

Year 6 Maths Summer term week 2 (W/C 27th April) Lesson 4: Problem solving

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-6/

Scroll down the page to access Summer term week 2 (W/c 27th April) lessons. (You may need to click on the + symbol for them to appear on the webpage).

Guidance: watch the video tutorial, then complete the worksheet. If you can't (or don't want to) print the worksheet, write your answers in your exercise book. Make sure you number your questions to make it easy for your parents to check your answers!

You will need to choose strategies and draw on your knowledge (e.g fraction, decimal and percentage equivalents) to solve these problems. Remember, you can draw bar models to help you understand the problems. Hint: these are multi-step problems, so there will be more than one thing to do! These are tricky, but persevere!

Design Technology.

It’s the return of Foodie Friday!!! Get in the kitchen and prepare a tasty treat to celebrate the weekend. It could be sweet or savoury, snack or meal, cold or hot. Your choice! I know we have some potential chefs/ bake off champions, so be adventurous! Get your siblings involved (if you have any). I'd love to see photos of your creations.
