Castle Acre Primary School

Kingswood - 24-26 April 2019

After weeks of anticipation, the day of the Y4 residential had arrived. Nine excited children and Mrs Easter joined up with Y4 children from Narborough and Sporle, Mrs Stainer and Ms Wright to begin a two night/three day stay at Kingswood, West Runton on the North Norfolk coast.

We arrived to glorious sunshine and were soon in our rooms making the beds. The first challenge was to put a cover on a duvet - not easy it seemed! Teamwork prevailed and the job was swiftly done. We met up with Jen, our Group Leader and were soon participating in the first of our planned activities, Problem Solving and Laser.

The children were ready for their evening meal (Italian Night) and it was soon time to join in Group Leader Games and Mini Olympics. Bed-time came with lots of excited chatting and munching of snacks.

After an early start, the children fuelled themselves with a hearty breakfast. The activities for Day two included Archery, Climbing, Abseiling, Caving and Group Leader Games. The children ended the day with a campfire, enjoying toasted marshmallows (thank you Mrs Scott) and hot chocolate.

We awoke on Friday morning to a blue sky and sunshine. After stripping the beds, packing belongings and tucking in to another filling breakfast, we made our way to Shelter Building, Climbing and more Problem Solving. All too soon it was time to have our lunch and climb aboard the coach for our journey back to school.

The children were brilliant during their stay at West Runton and lots of new friendships within the Federation were made. They demonstrated super teamwork, co-operation, resilience and perseverance in the participation of the activities and were a credit to themselves and to the Nar Valley Federation. All three staff members were incredibly proud.
