Daily learning task for Monday 20th April.

Welcome back home learning superstars!!!!

Spellings: Use the powerpoint below with the children to explore the rules for adding the suffixes 'tion' and 'sion'. (Spellings _Rule 17 tion, sion). Can they determine when they should use sion or tion?

Read for pleasure: Spend 10-15 minutes (or more if you want) reading something for pleasure. It could be a story, poem, play, information text, comic, graphic novel or online text/kindle/e-reader. You could also read to a younger or older sibling.

English: Reading:  

Guidance: work through the relevant powerpoint below with the children (Note: there is a separate powerpoint for year 5 and year 6. Year 6 will also need a copy of the short story 'Thrown'). They can record responses to the questions in their exercise books as they go.

Year 5: Can prove or disprove statements about a character. Use a range of evidence from the text to say whether a statement is ture or false.

Year 6: Accurately order summaries of different paragraphs. Building from their summarising skills before Easter, and using their sequencing skills to order summaries/events accurately.

Use the powerpoint to explore the scientific concept of inheritance.

1. Vocabulary associated with evolution and inheritance (see pdf: key vocabulary).

2. Investigating inheritance and variation (see pdf below) You may want to print the sheet, or refer to it when recording your ides in your exercise books.

3. Exploring which characteristics are inherited or acquired (charcterisics cards: these don't have to be printed, just looked at)
