Home learning tasks for Monday

Spellings: Use the powerpoint below with the children to explore the rules for adding the suffix 'ly' to root words. (Spellings _Rule 16_'ly' suffix). Then ask children to try to correctly add the ly suffix to the words on slide 6.

Read for pleasure: Spend 10-15 minutes (or more if you want) reading something for pleasure. It could be a story, poem, play, information text, comic, graphic novel or online text/kindle/e-reader. You could also read to a younger or older sibling.

English: Reading: Summarising the main ideas of texts.

Guidance: work through the relevant powerpoint below with the children (Note: there is a separate powerpoint for year 5 and year 6). They can record responses to the questions in their exercise books as they go.

Science: More about Microorganisms

Use the powerpoint to discover more about microorganisms.

1. Drawing conclusions from your mould experiment. Use the "mould investigation conclusions" document below to record what you found out from your investigation.

2. Make your own microorganism (you can use whatever you have available....plasticine, play-do, blue tack, or if you can't find anything to use, draw your own microorganism. Use the "Make your own microorganism" document below to record your work.
