Saxon and Viking day

Givers, hail!
A guest is come in:
where shall he sit?

From the Hávamál (“Sayings of the High One”), a series of Old Norse poems from the Viking age.

On Thursday 8th February 2018, Whitebeam Class transformed into Saxons and Vikings! This has been our topic for this half of the term and the children looked fabulous dressed up - as well as Mrs Williamson in her fur jacket and Mrs B in her glamorous blonde wig!

In the morning the children made a Saxon and Viking themed board game which included some maths problems and facts. They also made shields and helmets. In the afternoon, we were joined by some of the parents as we carried out a weaving activity. We enjoyed refreshments to help us along the way and ended the day with a Viking saga. It was a fantastic day and we all thoroughly enjoyed it!
