Thursday 30th April

Learning tasks for Thursday....

Spellings:

Continue to practice adding prefixes to root words. Use slide7 for ideas of words containing prefixes. Remember, don’t do them all at once! No more than ten at one time (Spellings _Rule 18 prefies).

Read for pleasure: Spend 10-15 minutes (or more if you want) reading something for pleasure. It could be a story, poem, play, information text, comic, graphic novel or online text/kindle/e-reader. You could also read to a younger or older sibling.

English: Commas, Brackets and Dashes

Click on the link below to access the BBC bitesize page on commas, brackets and dashes. Watch the videos, read the text and complete activities 1 and 2. Choose 1 of the pages from activity 3 to have a go at (there is no expectation to complete all of these sheets! Choose 1 that you will need to think about- not one you will find too easy! )

Year 5 Maths Summer term week 2(W/C 27th April) Lesson 3: Adding decimals with a different number of decimal places

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-5/

Scroll down the page to access Summer term week 2 (W/c 27th April) lessons. (You may need to click on the + symbol for them to appear on the webpage).
Guidance: watch the video tutorial, then complete the worksheet. If you can't (or don't want to) print the worksheet, write your answers in your exercise book. Make sure you number your questions to make it easy for your parents to check your answers.

If you find the column method tricky, think what other strategy you could use (e.g. partitioning). Don’t forget to use your counting skills to help you!

Year 6 Maths Summer term week 2 (W/C 27th April) Lesson 3: Problem solving

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-6/

Scroll down the page to access Summer term week 2 (W/c 27th April) lessons. (You may need to click on the + symbol for them to appear on the webpage).

Guidance: watch the video tutorial, then complete the worksheet. If you can't (or don't want to) print the worksheet, write your answers in your exercise book. Make sure you number your questions to make it easy for your parents to check your answers!

You will need to choose strategies and draw on your knowledge (e.g fraction, decimal and percentage equivalents) to solve these problems. Remember, you can draw bar models to help you understand the problems. Hint: these are multi-step problems, so there will be more than one thing to do! These are tricky, but persevere!

RE/Art

On Tuesday in RE you learned about the Hindu festival of Diwali. Go through the powerpoint “All about Rangoli,” to learn bout Rangoli patterns and how they are created. Can you create your own colourful Rangoli pattern (you don’t have to do it on the floor, you can use paper so you don’t ruin the carpet!). You can choose what materials to use. You may want to look at the pdf Rangoli pattern (see below) for some guidance on how to make a symmetrical Rangoli pattern. Get creative! Be colourful! If you upload a photo onto dojo of your finished Rangoli pattern, I will collate them into a gallery and share it with you.
