Phonics / Spelling

I have attached lists of words for your children to practise spelling this week. Your child is not expected to spell all the words by the end of the week. You can choose 5 words to begin with and work through the spellings over the next week or so. If your child can already spell all the words, they should think of and write their own sentences using the words from the list.

Practise reading the words first and then practise spelling the words by writing the word in your book and use 'look, cover, write, check'.

Y1 -  Phase 5 spelling attachment below.

Y2 - Phase 6 spelling attachment below.

English

Open up the attachment called 'story picture'.

Look carefully at the picture and read the title. Talk about what you can see in the picture. What do you think is happening? What do the words 'An unexpected adventure' mean?  Think about what the unexpected adventure might be. Start your sentence with 'I think......' Practise saying your idea out loud then write it as a sentence. Remember 'think your sentence, say it, write it, check it'. There are no right or wrong answers so be as imaginative as you like but remember to use clues from the picture and title to help you make your prediction.

Maths

Daily ten - Choose level 2 doubling and halving up to 10 or 20. Try to beat your score or time from yesterday!

Topic

Look at the picture of the Titanic in the attachments. Study the picture carefully. What can you work out from the picture? What do you think happened? In your book, write down a list of what you can see in the picture. Try to be specific e.g. if you can see people, what do you think the are the people doing?
