Spellings: Rule 22: cian or ssion suffixes

Use the powerpoint below to revise when to use the suffixes ‘cian’ or ‘ssion.’ Use examples from the last slide to practice spelling the words accurately, chosing the correct suffix. Don’t do all of them at once- 10 a day is plenty.

Quick Write: Main and subordinate clauses.

Using the picture in the powerpoint below for inspiration, can you write sentences containing a main and subordinate clause and a subordinating conjunction? Try swapping the position of the subordinate clause. Think carefully about your punctuation. D you need to include a comma?

 White Rose Maths

Note: this week there are separate lessons for year 4 and year 5 children.

Year 4: What is a fraction?

Click on the link below to watch the video tutorial about fractions. You will learn about numerators and denominators, unit fractions and non-unit fractions, use different pictorial representations (pictures) to show fractions, how to place fractions on a number line and begin to explore fractions that are equivalent to ½.

These terms are all explained in the video, but I will also upload a couple of short videos to dojo to explain these terms.

Then, complete the worksheet below (Y4 Maths Tuesday). You could print it off and write on the worksheet, or write the answers on paper/exercise book, but remember to number your answers clearly so your parents can check you are correct.

Parents: I have also uploaded the answer sheet (Y4 MATHS ANSWERS) for you to refer to.

Year 5: Equivalent fractions

Click on the link below to watch the video tutorial to learn how to use bar models and fraction walls to find equivalent fractions. (Equivalent fractions are fractions that have the same value..e.g. 1/3 = 2/6). Can you spot any patterns with the equivalent fractions you have found?

Then, complete the worksheet below (Y5 Maths Tuesday). You could print it off and write on the worksheet, or write the answers on paper/exercise book, but remember to number your answers clearly so your parents can check you are correct.

English

These interactive lessons are from the natural curriculum website. Clicking on the links will take you to the relevant webpage.  The children need to work through each of the 4 parts (see the tabs at the bottom…1- Learning objective, 2- The Grammar bit, 3- Whiteboard challenge, 4- Writing ideas.) There is a downloadable worksheet on the writing ideas page for children to complete, which you can also find at the bottom of this page. This can be printed for children to work on, or alternatively children could write their answers on paper/in a book.

Show your teacher how you got on by uploading a photo/screenshot of your work to your profile on class dojo.
