Today you are going to write your own poem describing an African land animal.We would like you to base it  upon the poem 'The Elephant'.

Read the poem below:

The Elephant                                                       Format

One long trunk                                                  Number, adjective, body part

Four thick legs                                                     Number, adjective, body part

 Two sharp tusks                                                Number, adjective, body part

Thumping, plodding, crashing                         Three verbs

Wrinkled and noble                                            Two adjectives

 Like a giant bulldozer                                          Simile

Old man of Africa                                                  Statement

Each line is made up of different types of words.

Choose your African land anima eg cheetah ,zebra, giraffe, hippo, rhino or use the internet to find one.  Write your own poem, using the format above about your animal. Add an illustration to you poem as well. Look at the template of poem attached below to help you.
