Welcome to Tuesday's learning tasks!

Spellings:

Rule 23: ‘cial’ or ‘tial’ suffixes

Continue to practice spelling words containing the ‘cial’ or ‘tial’ suffixes. You can refer to slide 6 of the powerpoint for ideas of  words containing these suffixes,

Read for pleasure: Spend 10-15 minutes (or more if you want) reading something for pleasure. It could be a story, poem, play, information text, comic, graphic novel or online text/kindle/e-reader. You could also read to a younger or older sibling.

English: Story writing: Planning Your story

This week, you will be asked to plan and write a story. The work that we will be doing over the next few days is going to prepare you for your big write. The setting and character you created last week will be used in the story you write this week. You will also be expected to include some subordinating conjunctions, semi-colons, and fronted adverbials in your story, so pay attention! If you need any help, please message me 😊

Click on the link below to access the BBC bitesize page to learn about how to create an exciting plot for your story. Read the text, watch the video and complete activity 1  only (Quiz).

Then, using the character and setting you created last week, can you plan the plot of your story? You are just jotting down ideas of what is going to happen at each point in the story, not writing it, so you don’t need to write in sentences. You can use the story mountain PDF if you would like, or draw your own in your exercise books. I have also uploaded an example of what this might look like (story mountain example). I have tried (and failed: files too big) to upload step-by-step video guides to the website, but will try and re-film and upload to the class story on dojo, so keep your eyes peeled...
