Narborough Primary Academy

Week 5 - Monday 13th July - Friday 17th July

It's the last week! You will find all of this week's work on this page.

Phonics / SPAG / Spelling

For this week I have attached some Y1 and Y2 SPAG practise questions. This is so we can go over some of the work we have covered and if there is anything your child finds particularly tricky please do let me know so I can make a note of it.

You are not expected to complete all the sheets but you might like to do a few questions each day this week.

Please continue to practise a few spellings each day.

Daily reading

I have attached a booklet about endangered animals. Try to read a page each day.

English

The English task can be spread out over the week. The first activity is suitable for Y1 and Y2. There is a 2nd activity suitable for Y2 if they would prefer to do this one instead.

If you would prefer to do the work without making the bunting I am more than happy for you to present the work any way that suits you - this may simply be drawings and writing in their exercise books.

Y1 /2 Activity - Watch and learn about animals such as tigers and why there are not very many of them left in the world.

Using 6 sheets of A4 paper or card make 6 triangles like this

Once you have cut your triangles out fold over a 1cm strip.

You are going to draw an endangered animal on each one.

  • An elephant
  • A tiger
  • A rhinoceros
  • A panda
  • A gorilla
  • A turtle

Now you are going to turn your triangle over, and you can write one or two facts about each of these animals.

Ask your parents to help you find a fact about each animal – you can use  websites like this one.

After that, place your triangle with the flap over some coloured wool or string and make your bunting.

OR

Y2 might like to do this task instead:

Year 2

Tiny Dragon

Questions for discussion:

  • Where is it from?
  • Why is it so small?
  • Are there more like him?
  • Where does he live?
  • How will you look after it?
  • Will you keep it a secret or tell someone?
  • What is it called?
  • Is it magic?  What magic can it do?

You are going to create a book all about the travels of this tiny creature.

You need to work out the answers to the questions above before you start.  Then develop your story line. Will it be an adventure, or a mystery story.

Each page in your book will have a picture created by you on half of it and you write the story in the other half.

Create a front cover and give it a title – look at some of your books at home to give you some ideas.
