Castle Acre Primary School

World Environment Day 5.6.19

Our improvement focus of 'Global Citizenship' continues and to celebrate World Environment Day, Oak Class participated in activities linked to plastic packaging. They investigated the effect plastics can have on the world and learned about the 4R's - reduce, reuse, recycle and refuse.

The whole school welcomed Beth from 'The Green Parrot' in Swaffham, who told us more about the subject and also explained how we can reuse containers and jars when buying goods such as pasta, flour and rice.

We investigated our own use of packaging by saving all of our plastics and wrappers from our lunch boxes for the week. We sorted and arranged the waste on the hall floor and soon discovered that only a very small part was recyclable. We are continuing to learn about how we might be able to make a difference by making a small change to our use of plastics and packaging.
